Postoperative
Hypothermia
A 68yo male with a h/o CAD is now s/p hemicolectomy for cancer is awake
and extubated in the PACU, but his temperature is 34.4.
- What are the clinical consequences
of hypothermia? Acute and longterm? Anything particularly concerning
in this patient?
- What are the best ways to
prevent hypothermia intraoperatively?
- How should you treat it in
the PACU? At what level do you institute active treatment?
